I got really suspicious of this posting because of the "prophesy" thing and because of claims that the Otomí are descendants of the Maya. They're not. The Otomí language is from an entirely different family than the Mayan languages. It's not even closely related.

There are lots of good reasons for drumming and healing the environment, but I'd rather do so without promoting New Age "philosophy". One of my own pet peeves is Mayanism:

The true indigenous traditions of living Mayas are getting swamped with this nonsense. As has been true for a while, New Age gurus and "visionaries" are making big bucks while native people are still struggling just to stay alive and feed their kids. I have a feeling we're on the same page on this issue.
